Computing Assistants (2x positions) for the Computing Assistant Team
Applications are invited from registered postgraduate students of Maynooth University who wish to be considered for part-time work as part of the Computing Assistant Team.
We are looking for Computing Assistants to work in the Public Access Computer Rooms Computing Assistants working in Public Access Computer Rooms (PACR)
The Computing Assistant Team is a long-established team providing front end service for students in the various computer labs provided by IT Services.
There is a Computing Assistant Team roster where shifts are scheduled for mornings, afternoons (incl. Saturday) and night shifts (and for occasional Sunday shifts). It is expected that members of the team would be available for these shifts.
The Computing Assistant duties in the PACR are:
Look after the multifunction devices' consumables (printing, paper, toner etc.)
First level troubleshooting of multifunction devices
First level troubleshooting of standard applications (MS-Word, MS-Excel etc.)
First level troubleshooting of hardware (PC / laptops etc.)
Assist students with IT related queries
Assist User Support team in various projects
Ensure that all queries and issues that cannot be dealt with are logged
Attend training sessions and meetings given by IT Services
Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulationsRequirements:
Flexibility: candidates need to be flexible to work a variety of shifts and undertake a variety of duties
Excellent customer care: candidates are working in a user focused IT computer lab environment and need to enjoy helping and supporting users
Team work: candidates will be working as part of a wider Computing Assistant and IT Services team and need to demonstrate ability to do this.
Technical experience: it is important to have a good working knowledge and experience of a wide range of standard applications (eg MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, Firefox, IE, Adobe Reader, Internet), as well as knowledge of printing and scanning.
€ 11.75 per hour
