This talk will introduce the project Medieval Irish Medicine in its North-Western European Context: A Case Study of Two Unpublished Texts (MIMNEC), based in the Arts and Humanities Research Institute at Maynooth University and funded by a Laureate Award from the Irish Research Council (September 2018–August 2020). The Principal Investigator for the project, Dr Deborah Hayden, will provide an overview of the project’s aims and of the nature of the funding application process, and will discuss the significance of the extant medieval Irish-language medical manuscripts for our understanding of Ireland’s literary and scientific heritage.
