John Coolahan Education Scholarship 

Professor Emeritus John Coolahan is a central figure in educational reform both in Ireland and abroad. His work has profoundly reshaped the educational landscape across four decades for early childhood education through to higher education policy and practice. It has consistently challenged- received wisdom and opened up new horizons for the future. Alumni are invited to give to the John Coolahan Education Scholarship in his honour.

MU John & Pat Hume Doctoral Scholarships

Each year, Maynooth University provides up to 30 John and Pat Hume Doctoral Scholarships to support prospective students to commence research studies at the University. Established in honour of John Hume, an alumnus of Maynooth University, and his wife, Pat Hume, and in recognition of their contribution to Ireland, the scholarship has been offered since 2005. To date, 350 students have received the award, with €1.5 million provided annually by the University to support this initiative.

In 2015, Maynooth University re-launched the scholarship scheme, now offering three level of awards, up to €16,000 as a stipend per annum and full fees for 4 years of study plus expenses. The application process is open to EU and non-EU citizens and both Maynooth and non-Maynooth University graduates. More information of awards.
