For ninety years the French Government has supported the study of French in NUI constituent universities by presenting medals to top ranking BA students for proficiency in French. This tradition continued at the recent NUI Awards Ceremony, held in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, where five students across the constituent universities were each presented with a French Government medal and an NUI Prize of €1,000.

The awards were as follows:  Líadan Ní Chearbhaill, French Government Medal and NUI prize for the best proficiency in French in Maynooth, BA 2016; Hassan Ould Moctar, BA French from NUI Maynooth in 2012, former tutor in European Studies in Maynooth, recipient of an NUI Travelling Studentship, held at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London; Dean Donnelly, First Prize in the Dr HH Stewart Literary Scholarship in French (best performance in French in First Year in all the NUI constituent universities).  Students were congratulated by Dr Éamon Ó Ciosáin, Lecturer in French, NUI Maynooth.

We would like to congratulate our students on their achievements.
