Prize-winning MU Music graduate Alannah Thornburgh presents a recital of traditional Irish harp music

Biography

Alannah Thornburgh is a multi-instrumentalist from Mayo. She began learning the Irish harp at the age of eleven under the expert tutelage of Gráinne Hambly. Since then, Alannah has become an established performer in the Irish traditional music scene having performed and toured across Ireland, Britain and North America, as well as winning numerous All-Ireland titles in solo and group competitions. Alannah graduated from Maynooth University in 2016 with a degree in Music and English, and was awarded the 'Music Class Prize' for achieving the best results in her class, an award that she also obtained in her first year of studies. She is currently studying for a Professional Masters of Education in Maynooth University. Alannah is also an established music teacher of both harp and piano. In 2015, she obtained her Piano Teaching Diploma from the Victoria College of Music in London with impressive results. Alannah is currently recording a debut album with her band 'Alfi', which is due to be released in 2018.
