War and An Irish Town with Eamonn McCann & Camilla Fitzsimons

Join author Eamonn McCann in-conversation with the author of Repealed Camilla Fitzsimons for a discussion on all things Ireland, from the Civil Rights march to the repeal the 8th campaign. Eamonn McCann has been campaigning for social justice in Derry for more than forty years. A lifelong socialist and trad unionist, he is a member of the National Executive of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and of the Northern Ireland Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU). He has campaigned against militarism and war since the days of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and the Vietnam protests, and was among those who successfully took nonviolent direct action against the bomb-makers Raytheon. He is chairman of the Bloody Sunday Trust and a member of Amnesty International and of the rail lobby, Into the West.

Camilla Fitzsimons is an activist and an academic working at Maynooth University. She is the author of ‘Repealed: Ireland’s Unfinished Fight for Reproductive Rights’, which was awarded the American Conference for Irish Studies James S. Donnelly, Sr. Prize for Books on History and Social Sciences. She also wrote ‘Community Education and Neoliberalism’. She has done extensive research on radical feminist-activism and has worked closely with several groups including the Abortion Rights Campaign, ROSA and the Dublin West Pro Choice group.
