Unique in Ireland, the Doctorate in Higher and Adult Education (DHAE) was launched in 2012, and is a level 10 award. The DHAE is the only Doctorate in the country aimed specifically at practitioners in higher and adult education.
It brings experienced professionals in teaching and management roles from diverse environments (e.g. Universities, Institutes of Technology and Further Education Colleges) and disciplines (Education, Science, Engineering, Social Care, IT, Business, Humanities) to work together in a stimulating and creative learning environment based on active participation and open discussion. The Doctorate is now open for applications 2018.

Join Course Coordinators live at our Facebook Q&A session on the 15th February, from 5-6.30pm - Type your questions before the session or live with our course directors, Dr. Bernie Grummell and Dr. Fergal Finnegan and current students from the programme.

The programme supports educational practitioners and managers to develop their research capacities and to critically reflect on their professional practices within a course which promotes transformation, critical thinking and democracy. The course explores policy and practice through interdisciplinary modules which draw on the extensive body of research conducted by departmental staff on educational policy and adult learning in higher and further education.
